Dear Parent or Guardian:
As the newly appointed Principal of Amerman Elementary School, it is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction. I possess eight years of educational experience – one year as a principal in the Taylor School District; five years with Lamphere Schools teaching fifth grade; one year teaching seventh/eighth grade language arts in Detroit; and another year as an intern. I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to your son’s/daughter’s school and look forward to working in partnership with you, along with our teachers and staff, to ensure your child’s success. Said another way, I am absolutely thrilled to be the new Principal of Amerman Elementary School!
As a member of the Amerman team, I will support the academic, social, and emotional growth of your child. By building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners, we will work hard to grow the legacy of success established at Amerman Elementary School. We will continue to focus on building a culture of learning and leadership, as well as 21st Century skills; fostering safe and nurturing environments where our students will learn and grow; using data to inform instruction; consistently implementing instructional strategies to increase student achievement; and providing exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all students.
Our entire Amerman staff looks forward to welcoming families back to school at our Open House events on Wednesday, August 31 from 6:00-7:45 p.m. for kindergarten and first grade families, and on Thursday, September 8, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. for second through fifth grade families.
I’d like to take the opportunity, during Open House, to more personally introduce myself to Amerman families during one of several time slots. I invite kindergarten and first grade families to convene in the gym for a brief presentation at either 5:45-6:00 p.m. prior to the start of our Open House on Wednesday, 8/31, or at its conclusion from 7:15-7:30 p.m. Likewise, second through fifth grade families are invited to convene in the gym for a brief presentation on Thursday, September 8 at either 5:45-6:00 p.m. OR 7:15-7:30 p.m.
I look forward to working together with you, and our Amerman team, to provide the students of Amerman Elementary School the best possible opportunities as they prepare to become world class citizens. As Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in or call to make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet as we collectively work toward our mission to Aspire, Achieve and Amaze!
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 6, 2016. I look forward to working with you and your child!
With Bobcat Pride,
Principal, Amerman Elementary
