Northville Public Schools is proud to announce that Amerman Elementary has been named a 2025 Michigan Blue Ribbon School by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). Amerman is one of just sixteen public schools across the state to receive this distinguished recognition for academic excellence and student achievement—and this marks the second time Amerman has earned a Blue Ribbon honor.
Amerman was previously recognized as a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, joining a select group of schools nationwide celebrated for exceptional performance and student success. Building on that legacy, Amerman continues to uphold its strong tradition of academic excellence, leadership, and community partnership.
The Michigan Blue Ribbon School distinction honors schools that demonstrate exceptional academic performance or notable progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Amerman was recognized as an Exemplary High-Performing School, ranking among the state’s highest-performing schools based on state assessments and nationally normed tests.
The Michigan Department of Education and State Board of Education will hold a special ceremony on Wednesday, November 13, to honor the 2025 Blue Ribbon Schools during the State Board’s monthly meeting at the John A. Hannah Building in Lansing. The event will also be livestreamed on Michigan.gov/MDE.
In previous years, the U.S. Department of Education bestowed the National Blue Ribbon Schools designation. While the federal program has since been discontinued, the State Board of Education is continuing the tradition of recognizing Michigan’s top-performing schools for their excellence and innovation.
