At the May 13, 2025, Board of Education meeting held at Meads Mill Middle School, Northville Public Schools proudly recognized eight exceptional staff members with the district’s Above and Beyond the Call of Duty (ABCD) Award. Nominated by students, families, and colleagues, these individuals were celebrated for their dedication, compassion, and outstanding service to our school community.
Dunya Sandiha
- ELA Teacher, Meads Mill Middle School
- Nominated by multiple parents, colleagues, and students, Ms. Sandiha is praised for creating a safe, inclusive, and uplifting classroom environment. Students feel seen, supported, and inspired in her care. As one student shared, “She is the only reason I enjoy school—she makes me laugh every day and makes me a better person.”
Jennifer Miers-Kamm
- Science Teacher, Meads Mill Middle School
- Students highlighted Ms. Miers-Kamm’s ability to make science fun and engaging. “She always listens to us,” one student shared, “and she makes all our lessons so exciting and fun.”
Melissa Provo
- Principal, Meads Mill Middle School
- A student nominated Principal Provo for her thoughtful leadership and personal touches, such as “redecorating the office over the weekend with her own time and money to make it more welcoming.”
Rob McFadden
- School Resource Officer, Meads Mill Middle School
- Officer McFadden is described by a colleague as a “gentle giant” whose daily presence brings comfort and joy to students. He plays quiz bowl with students, supports classrooms, and works tirelessly to keep everyone safe—all with a smile.
Patty Dow
- Learning Consultant, Meads Mill Middle School
- A student shared that Ms. Dow supported them through all three years of middle school—helping them improve grades and time management while always encouraging their success.
Shannon Cullen
- Learning Consultant/Design & Tech Teacher, Meads Mill Middle School
- Students described Ms. Cullen as kind, inclusive, and always ready to help. One student said, “She never judges anyone and always makes class fun while making everyone feel like they belong.”
Shelley Castor-Taylor
