Northville Public Schools is proud to announce that Moraine Elementary has been recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious honor celebrates Moraine Elementary’s dedication to academic excellence and its efforts to close achievement gaps, exemplifying the outstanding quality of education in Northville.
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona acknowledged Moraine Elementary as one of 356 schools nationwide to receive this honor in 2024. The National Blue Ribbon Schools program celebrates schools for their high academic performance or for making significant strides in closing achievement gaps among various student groups. Moraine Elementary was recognized in the "Exemplary High Performing Schools" category, which highlights schools performing at the top levels in their respective states.
“Moraine Elementary’s recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School is a reflection of the incredible dedication of our students, educators, and families,” said Northville Public Schools Superintendent Dr. RJ Webber. “This award acknowledges the hard work and collaboration that defines Moraine and the entire Northville community.”
This is not the first time Northville Public Schools has been honored with this recognition. In 2019, Amerman Elementary also received the National Blue Ribbon School designation, further demonstrating the district’s commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities for all students.
National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models for effective teaching and innovative learning practices. These schools are celebrated for fostering environments where students thrive academically, and collaboration between educators, families, and communities is key to their success. At Moraine, the emphasis on student empowerment, leadership development, and a culture of inclusivity has been instrumental in achieving this recognition.
The Moraine Elementary community will celebrate this remarkable achievement with a school-wide assembly on September 27, centering the event around service learning and “giving back” to honor the values that have helped the school reach this milestone. A second celebration is planned for February 2025 at a Northville Board of Education meeting to reflect on their contributions to this success.
In addition, the prestigious 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 7, and Friday, November 8, in Washington, D.C. Moraine Elementary Principal Joe Reimann and Superintendent Dr. RJ Webber will attend to accept this national honor on behalf of the school.
The National Blue Ribbon School flag, symbolizing Moraine Elementary’s commitment to excellence, will soon be proudly displayed at the school—a visual reminder of what is possible through hard work, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of educational achievement.
